| In 1984, right after I got my first plane, I got my airplane insurance through the AYA group insurance Aircraft and Marine Insurance. Norris Hibler was the contact there. Having heard a lot of good things about the insurance through the AYA, I didn't bother to check any other insurance. Over the next few years, my insurance went up - it seems - with the more flying experience I got. In 1989, there was a real hard wind blowing dirt and dust and sand through the airport area. My plane got got sand blasted on the right front corner (particularly the cabin area and the windshield. I filed a claim. My insurance went up again. |

Out of curiosity, I called around to some other insurance companies and to my surprise, Chaparral's quote was some $300/year less. Over the next 10 years, my insurance only went up $50 total. |
